Twenty years ago wind and solar were a rounding error on the Texas grid. Today more than a third of the power comes from them, and the share has risen every year.

In the Houston-area example (77002) today, the cheapest plan is already 100% renewable. The premium is zero.

Across the 5 delivery territories we price, the cheapest 100% renewable plan is within 1¢/kWh of the cheapest plan of any kind in 5 of them, and in 5 of those it is the cheapest plan, full stop.

Wind and solar already supply about a third of the power on the Texas grid, so a renewable plan isn't buying something rare.

A 100% renewable plan is a normal plan whose provider retires renewable energy certificates to match your usage — the electrons, the wires, and the delivery charge are identical.

That is why the premium is small, and often zero.

Whatever plan you pick, the electricity in your wires is Texas grid power — 37% wind and solar in 2025 on the ERCOT grid, and rising every year. A plan's renewable number is what your provider buys on your behalf on top of that.
